The Summer of 2012

The Summer of 2012 The Summer of 2012 The Summer of 2012

Where do I start?!  Rain, rain and more rain!

Weatherwise I cannot recollect a more miserable Spring and Summer, which followed a particularly mild Winter and a non too memorable Autumn.  These four ingredients all mixed together are not conducive to a happy landscape photographer!    For the past year I have battled with the elements to produce photographs despite some very challenging conditions.  The almost never ending run of poor weather begins to erode motivation levels, leaving me less inclined to venture out for dawn or dusk for fear of encountering less than favourable conditions.

Fortunately, looking back over the summer it's not all doom and gloom; the wet weather has forced me back into woodlands, one of the most challenging yet rewarding of locations to photograph.  During or after rainfall, when photographed properly woodlands can spring to life with verdant greens and rich saturation while woodland rivers bursting with high water levels can make fantastic subjects on grey days.

Looking back through my summer portfolio I can say that although the weather has been pretty awful and my photographic output much lower than usual, never the less I have still captured images which I am extremely proud of.  I am hoping that this coming Autumn will see a welcome improvement in the weather, and hopefully many more opportunities to take photographs.
