My first drone video!
14th April, 2020
Without exception, the most incredible photographic tool I have purchased over the past year has been a DJI Mavic 2 Pro. This little drone is quite simply an amazing tool for photography; it opens up such huge potential for compositions, and the quality of the integrated Hasselblad camera is exceptional.
I purchased the drone exactly a year ago, and throughout the past 12 months I have spent much of my time learning to fly and learning to photograph with it. To help with this process, and to enable me to use my aerial photography commercially, I applied for and passed my Permission for Commercial Operations (PfCO) permit with the CAA.
Being a stills photographer video is totally alien to me, but after seeing the amazing footage drones can capture I have been determined to have a try. Capturing video footage is far more challenging than stills photography as it requires you to not only find effective compositions but have the skills to fly smoothly when capturing them. It is an area that I need to practice, a lot!
However, over the year I have captured lots of little sequences which I have finally managed to put together into this small video. It is only a first attempt, and there are more juddery sequences than I would like, but overall I am really very proud of this little video. I hope you enjoy.
