The Isle of Skye needs no introduction.  It is unquestionably up there with the most incredible photographic destinations in the UK, and quite possibly is the best of them all.  It certainly is the most dramatic, and posesses an iconic status amongst landscape photographers.

Every outdoor photographer living in the UK, and a huge number of those from overseas, has Skye on their bucket list.  It's locations are legendary, from the jaw dropping Old Man of Storr to the rugged expanse of the Quiraing, down to the spectacular coastline at Elgol, these places offer some of the finest natural ingredients for landscape photographs anywhere.

In February 2025, Adam will be revisiting the Isle of Skye for the first time in 8 years to run a Discovery Tour.  This is an area that Adam knows very well, and has been visiting since way back in 2005.  Starting early afternoon on the first day, this tour spans 4 days and throughout that time will give you the opportunity to shoot Skye's incredible scenery under three sunrises and three sunsets, not to mention the possibility of low winter daylight sunshine in between.  The workshop finishes mid afternoon on the final day to allow you time to begin your journey home.

We will absolutely prioritise the key locations on this trip, providing you with the best opportunity to photograph the amazing natural wonders that Skye is best known for.  As well as the locations already mentioned, we will of course visit Sligachan, Neist Point and the world famous Fairy Pools, and others along the way.

With a maximum group number of only four participants, our chosen locations will be uncrowded ensuring everybody has access to shoot that special viewpoint.  Adam will encourage you to fully explore each location to find your own viewpoints and compositions, while helping you capture beautiful landscape photographs.

Our tours are aimed at everybody, from beginners looking for advice and encouragement through to experienced photographers wishing only to be guided to locations.  With such a small group, you can be assured of Adam’s attention, support and feedback throughout each location we visit.

Please note: This tour has been classified as strenuous.  Lengthy walks are required to reach several locations, the most difficult of which is the walk to the Old Man of Storr which will be approximately one hour walking, much of which is uphill.  We will allocate time so we do not have to rush, but you will need to posess a good level of fitness.

Accommodation

Our base for this Discovery Tour is the Skeabost House Hotel in Skeabost Bridge.  This, beautiful family run hotel has been stunningly refurbished and offers a luxurious base for us to return to each evening.  Each guest will enjoy single occupancy of a beautiful double room.  For more information please check out the hotel website here

Recommendations

"Thank you for making last Friday such a terrific day. You have a talent for teaching and I learnt so much."

David, 1-2-1 Tuition Day

"We had a wonderful time, weather was kind to us and hopefully some good images. As always your workshops are really enjoyable and much appreciate the planning and care you take and, as with others in the past, cannot fault them at all. Very much looking forward to being on another in future. I need to be more on the ball as they are generally booked up by the time I hear of them."

Chris, Yorkshire Dales Discovery Tour (2023)

"Thank you for the excellent tours this year. Your efforts to get us in the best locations for the conditions were outstanding. Always consulting, always giving options and taking all the group along with the decisions that were made. The weather could have been kinder but I don’t think we missed a location and made an image wherever we went. You are an excellent teacher but you also give people space to try things for themselves."

Suzanne - Various Discovery Tours

"Thanks very much for your guidance, care and attention over the few days last week and for your eternal optimism about the weather !!"

Len, West Cornwall Discovery Tour
