Join Adam on a Discovery Tour to one of Scotland's most spectacular locations. In October 2025, Adam will be returning north of the border to guide a small group to photograph the fabulous locations around Glencoe and the West Highlands.
The scenery in this area barely needs an introduction, and is one of the reasons why Scotland is currently high on many landscape photographers wishlists the world over. We will be visiting romantic castle ruins, expansive lochs and fast flowing rivers, all with the amazing backdrop of those dramatic Highlands mountains. Our tour will take in Kilchurn Castle, the Pass of Glencoe and Rannoch Moor plus many more of the incredible locations found in this part of the Highlands. To provide more time to fully explore each location, this tour will run over 5 days.
To give you the greatest chance of photographing these amazing locations in the best available light, the itinerary has been designed to include four sunrises and four sunsets. We will kick off mid afternoon on the first day, where, after checking in to your room we will head straight out to shoot our first sunset. Each day thereafter we will aim to be shooting from sunrise through to sunset, returning to the hotel after sunrise for breakfast before heading out again for the rest of the day, returning to our accommodation after sunset. On the final day we will shoot sunrise and then the tour will finish after breakfast, giving you ample daylight hours to make the long journey home.
With a maximum group number of only four participants, our chosen locations will be uncrowded ensuring everybody has access to shoot that special viewpoint. Adam will encourage you to fully explore each location to find your own viewpoints and compositions, while helping you capture beautiful landscape photographs.
Our tours are aimed at everybody, from beginners looking for advice and encouragement through to experienced photographers wishing only to be guided to locations. With such a small group, you can be assured of Adam’s attention, support and feedback throughout each location we visit.
Please note: This tour requires a moderate level of fitness. Although most locations can be accessed via short walks, some locations require walks of up to 30 minutes.
Accommodation
Our base for this Discovery Tour will be the Bridge of Orchy Hotel. Located in a rural setting close to Loch Tulla, the four star Bridge of Orchy Hotel is the ideal location from which to explore this part of the Highlands. Guests will enjoy single occupancy of a comfortable en suite bedroom. For more information please check out the hotel website.

To enable you to get the most out of the workshop please bring the following camera gear:
- Digital camera, lenses and memory cards
- Spare batteries
- Tripod
- Filters (a set of Kase filters will be available for you to use throughout the workshop should you require them)
Recommendations
"I'd like to thank you again for the great workshop in the Brecon Beacons. I've seen wonderful locations and I've learned a lot."

"Thank you for the excellent tours this year. Your efforts to get us in the best locations for the conditions were outstanding. Always consulting, always giving options and taking all the group along with the decisions that were made. The weather could have been kinder but I don’t think we missed a location and made an image wherever we went. You are an excellent teacher but you also give people space to try things for themselves."

"Adam Burton is a great photographer and a great communicator. He didn't bamboozle me with jargon and unnecessary technicalities - we just got down to the nitty gritty of taking a good photograph. The day just flew by which is always a good sign in my book. The day was very informative, hugely enjoyable and I learnt a great deal. All I have to do now is remember everything we covered and put it into practice. Perhaps easier said than done!"

"I’m back in the deep north again and just wanted to say thanks so much for a very memorable day on Wednesday. As I said to you at the end of the day, I found your teaching style very relaxed and encouraging and I learned many points to take away, mull over, and put into practice. Exactly what I needed!"
